Terms of Service
Expat Transition Coach | Last updated: September 2026
Welcome. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of www.expattransitioncoach.com and the life coaching services provided by Expat Transition Coach, operated by Claudia Soler, based in Spain ("Coach," "I," "me," or "my").
By booking, purchasing, or participating in the coaching services, you ("Client" or "you") confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms.
1. Coaching Services
I provide life coaching services through www.expattransitioncoach.com. My work focuses on supporting expats and individuals navigating relocation, cultural adjustment, personal transitions, connection, confidence, belonging, values, and creating a meaningful life in a new country.
Coaching is a collaborative process that encourages reflection, awareness, personal growth, and action. The Client is responsible for setting their own goals and making their own decisions and choices throughout the coaching relationship.
Coaching sessions are currently provided online and in English.
Before you purchase or book a service, I will provide details about the number, length, frequency, and price of the sessions or coaching package.
If the Coach and Client enter into a separate Coaching Agreement, that agreement will also apply. If there is a conflict between these Terms and the Coaching Agreement regarding the individual coaching relationship, the Coaching Agreement will take precedence, subject to applicable law.
2. Coaching Is Not Therapy or Professional Advice
Life coaching is not psychotherapy, counselling, psychiatric care, medical treatment, or any other form of healthcare.
I do not diagnose or treat mental-health or medical conditions through my coaching services.
Coaching is also not a substitute for legal, immigration, visa, tax, accounting, investment, financial, or other professional advice.
Because my work focuses on expat life, we may discuss relocation, cultural adjustment, employment, family life, integration, or living in another country. These discussions are part of personal coaching and must not be understood as immigration, legal, tax, or other regulated professional advice.
You are responsible for consulting an appropriately qualified professional when you need advice in any of these areas.
3. Client Responsibility
Coaching is a collaborative process. The Client remains responsible for their own life, choices, decisions, actions, and results.
• you are responsible for deciding how to use any information or insights that arise during coaching;
• you remain responsible for your personal, professional, financial, family, health, relocation, and other decisions;
• you are responsible for communicating openly about what is and is not working for you during the coaching relationship; and
• coaching does not guarantee any particular result or outcome.
I will support, challenge, question, and encourage you, but I will not make decisions on your behalf.
4. Confidentiality
Privacy and trust are important to the coaching relationship.
Information shared during coaching sessions will be treated as confidential and will not normally be disclosed to third parties without the Client's consent. However, information may be disclosed where required or permitted by applicable law or where there is a serious and immediate safety concern.
The Coaching Agreement may contain additional confidentiality provisions.
Because sessions take place online, Clients are encouraged to participate from a private location where they feel comfortable speaking openly.
5. Sessions and Scheduling
Sessions are held online at a date and time agreed by the Coach and Client.
The Client is responsible for having a suitable internet connection, a functioning device, and a reasonably private environment for each session.
If technical difficulties occur, I will make reasonable efforts to continue the session or reschedule it, as appropriate.
A coaching package may include a suggested schedule or completion period. I will provide any specific package duration before the Client purchases the package.
6. Fees and Payment
All coaching fees are quoted in euros (EUR), unless otherwise stated.
I will communicate the applicable fee before the Client books or purchases a coaching service.
• Payment may be made by PayPal;
• Revolut; or
• bank transfer.
I will provide payment instructions when the Client books a session or purchases a coaching package.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment must be received before the relevant session or before the coaching package begins.
The Client is responsible for any bank charges, PayPal or Revolut charges, international transaction fees, currency-conversion fees, or other charges imposed by the Client's bank or payment provider.
I may change my fees for future services. A price change will not affect the agreed price of a coaching service or package that the Client has already purchased.
7. Cancellations and Rescheduling
I understand that plans can change.
If you need to cancel or reschedule a coaching session, please provide at least 24 hours' notice.
If you provide less than 24 hours' notice, the session may be treated as used and may not be refunded or rescheduled. This does not apply where applicable law requires otherwise or where I agree to an exception because of exceptional circumstances.
If I need to cancel or reschedule a session, I will make reasonable efforts to provide as much notice as possible and arrange an alternative time.
8. Consumer Right of Withdrawal
If you are a consumer and purchase coaching services online or otherwise at a distance, you may have a statutory right to withdraw from the contract without giving a reason within 14 calendar days from the day after the contract is concluded, subject to the exceptions and conditions established by applicable Spanish and European Union consumer law.
The withdrawal period does not apply, or may cease to apply, where a statutory exception applies. In particular, the right of withdrawal may not apply to services that have been fully performed after you have expressly requested that performance begin before the withdrawal period ends and have acknowledged that you will lose the right of withdrawal once the service has been fully performed.
If you ask me to begin providing coaching services before the 14-day withdrawal period ends, I will request your express request or consent as required by law and, where applicable, your acknowledgement of the consequences for your withdrawal right.
If you withdraw after services have begun but before they have been fully performed, you may be required to pay a proportionate amount for the services supplied up to the time you communicate your withdrawal. The proportionate amount will be calculated based on the agreed total price and the part of the service already supplied. If the price is disproportionately high, the amount will be based on the market value of the service supplied, as required by applicable law.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, you must send a clear statement of your decision to withdraw before the withdrawal period expires. You may contact me using the details in Section 18. You may use the model withdrawal form set out below, but you are not required to do so:
To: Expat Transition Coach, Claudia Soler, Spain, claudia@expattransitioncoach.com
I hereby give notice that I withdraw from my contract for the provision of the following service:
Service ordered on: ____________________
Client name: __________________________
Client address: ________________________
Client signature, if sent on paper: __________
Date: _________________________________
If you validly withdraw, I will reimburse payments received from you without undue delay and, in any event, no later than 14 days from the day on which I am informed of your decision to withdraw. I will use the same means of payment that you used for the original transaction, unless you expressly agree otherwise. I will not charge you any reimbursement fee.
Where permitted by law, I may withhold reimbursement until I have received the supplied goods, if any, or until you provide evidence that you have sent them back. This does not generally apply to coaching services.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any mandatory consumer right, including the right of withdrawal where it applies.
9. Refunds and Coaching Packages
If you validly exercise a statutory right of withdrawal, any refund or payment due will be handled in accordance with Section 8 and applicable Spanish and European Union consumer law.
If coaching services begin during the withdrawal period at your express request, and you subsequently withdraw before the services are fully performed, I may retain or charge only the proportionate amount permitted by applicable law for the services supplied up to the time of withdrawal.
If the coaching service has been fully performed after your express request and acknowledgement required by law, the statutory right of withdrawal may no longer be available.
Outside any statutory withdrawal right, fees for coaching sessions that have already taken place are non-refundable unless I agree otherwise in writing or a refund is required by applicable law.
For a coaching package, any refund following cancellation or withdrawal will be calculated by reference to the services already supplied, the agreed package price, any applicable statutory rights, and any specific package terms provided before purchase. I will not impose a cancellation charge that is prohibited by applicable law.
If a package includes separate sessions or services that have not yet been supplied, any refund due for those unsupplied services will be handled in accordance with the applicable contract terms and mandatory consumer law.
Nothing in this Section prevents you from exercising any mandatory rights relating to defective, non-conforming, or improperly performed services.
10. No Guarantee of Results
Coaching can provide a valuable space for reflection, awareness, accountability, and personal development. However, every Client and situation is different.
I do not promise or guarantee any particular personal, professional, relationship, relocation, financial, or other result from coaching.
Testimonials and experiences shared by previous Clients reflect their individual experiences. They are not a promise that another Client will achieve the same or similar results.
11. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, the materials, exercises, worksheets, written resources, website content, branding, and other original materials provided as part of my coaching practice are owned by me or used with appropriate permission.
Materials provided to the Client are for the Client's personal use.
The Client may not reproduce, sell, publish, distribute, teach, commercially exploit, or present these materials as their own work without my prior written permission, except where applicable law permits this.
12. Website Information
Information provided on www.expattransitioncoach.com is for general informational and educational purposes. It is not personalised professional advice.
I aim to keep the website accurate and useful, but I do not guarantee that all information will always be complete, current, or suitable for every individual situation.
The website may contain links to third-party websites or services. I am not responsible for the content, privacy practices, availability, or services of third parties.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, I am not responsible for losses arising solely from decisions or actions that the Client takes independently as a result of participating in coaching.
The Client remains responsible for assessing their own circumstances and deciding whether to act on any insights, ideas, questions, or possibilities discussed during coaching.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where applicable law prohibits such exclusion or limitation. Nothing in these Terms restricts mandatory consumer rights.
14. Ending the Coaching Relationship
Either the Client or the Coach may end the coaching relationship.
Where possible, I encourage the Client to discuss any concerns about the coaching relationship openly so that they can be addressed constructively.
I may discontinue coaching if I reasonably believe that coaching is no longer appropriate, if the Client repeatedly violates professional boundaries, if the Client does not meet their payment obligations, or if the Client requires support outside the scope of my coaching services.
Any outstanding payments, unused sessions, or refunds will be handled in accordance with these Terms, the Coaching Agreement, and applicable law.
15. Privacy and Personal Data
I handle personal information in accordance with my Privacy Policy and applicable data-protection law, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), where applicable.
The Privacy Policy explains what personal information I collect, why I collect it, how I use and store it, and the rights individuals have regarding their personal data.
Please read the Privacy Policy available on www.expattransitioncoach.com for more information.
16. Governing Law and International Clients
These Terms are governed by Spanish law, without prejudice to any mandatory protections available to a consumer under the law of the country where the consumer has their habitual residence, where those protections apply under applicable conflict-of-laws rules.
If you are a consumer habitually resident in another European Union Member State, you may benefit from mandatory consumer protections that cannot be excluded by agreement. Nothing in these Terms is intended to deprive you of those protections.
Where the Coach directs commercial activities to the consumer's country of residence, or where another mandatory jurisdictional rule applies, you may bring proceedings against the Coach in the courts available under the applicable European Union jurisdiction rules, including, where applicable, the courts of the Member State in which you are domiciled.
The Coach may bring proceedings against a consumer only in the courts of the Member State in which that consumer is domiciled, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
For consumers habitually resident in Spain, any dispute may be brought before the courts that have jurisdiction under mandatory Spanish consumer law and procedural rules, including the courts corresponding to the consumer's domicile where required by law. Any agreement selecting another court will apply only to the extent permitted by mandatory law.
If you are acting wholly or mainly for business, professional, or commercial purposes, you may not have the same consumer protections or jurisdictional rights. In that case, disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts in Spain, unless the parties agree otherwise in writing or mandatory law provides otherwise.
Before starting formal proceedings, I encourage you to contact me using the details in Section 18 so that we can discuss the concern and try to reach an appropriate resolution. This does not prevent you from bringing proceedings within any applicable legal time limit or exercising any mandatory procedural right.
17. Changes to These Terms
I may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to my services, business practices, or applicable legal requirements.
The version that applies to a coaching purchase or engagement is the version in effect when the Client makes the purchase or enters into the engagement, unless a change is required by law or the Coach and Client agree otherwise.
The date of the latest revision appears at the top of this page.
